January - 2010 Battle of the Badges...Law Enforcement VS Fire
The Battle of the Badges is an opportunity for all badge carrying personnel, including friends and family, to positively impact our community by competing in a friendly competition to see who can donate the most blood and ultimately save the most lives.
Blood supplies typically fall to critically low levels during the winter months.
We can have a substantial impact on the availability of blood for accident victims, cancer patients, premature babies and burn patients.
We have a family member, a friend, or a neighbor in need of blood and we can help.
Why do we participate?
* Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
* Less than 3 percent of the Southern California population donates blood.
* In Southern California, The American Red Cross must collect more than 400,000 blood donations each year to help local patients.
* The community blood supply is everyone's responsibility
* you will help save lives

February 27, Marrow Drive & Race on the Base - Los Alamitos, CA
The 29th Annual Los Alamitos Race on the Base will be held on
Saturday, February 27, 2010.
The City of Los Alamitos, the California National Guard and the Cancer Support Foundation are happy to invite you to participate in the community event.
Approximately 6,000 participants, spectators and volunteers attended the last event.
The race is held on the runways at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos and features helicopters, planes and military vehicles with music throughout the course.
All proceeds will benefit the USA Water Polo National Training Center at the Joint Forces Training Base. The 5K Walk is co-hosted by the Cancer Support Foundation and a portion of the proceeds, generated from the 5K Walk and through race registration, is donated to the organization.

STAR Touring & Riding Association Saddleback Valley Chapter #422

This fundraiser provides backpacks, school supplies, and money to help support children and families of Olive Crest and Mariposa Women & Family Center.
These are two Orange County groups helping families and children in need.
